In the mid 2000’s HID chose to not renew their patent on Proximity cards and thus proximity cards are available for resale from other USA, Chinese card manufacturers. ColorID suggests to utilize HID’s Proximity cards at all times simply b/c their card construction/durability is amazing, however if price is simply your only concern then there may be additional options for you. The generic proximity 125 kHz frequency card is a legacy style contactless card that was created in the earlier 1990's. They are inexpensive and readily available but quite lacking when it comes to security. Prox is easily cloned with simplistic readers available throughout the web no matter what format you utilize today. Generic proximity credentials are available in a multitude of form factors including badges, clamshell cards, key fobs, sticky tags and wearables. Our card manufacturers offer a graphics quality surface optimized for badge printing with dye sublimation and reverse transfer printers. The standard offering for cardstock composition is with 100% PVC and it’s available in a composite construction for a more demanding high wear and tear environments.
