Gary B. Smith founded ColorID in 1999 and is currently the President and Owner of ColorID, LLC. The company supplies identification and security products and systems into selected markets, including over 600 universities and colleges, over 100 US federal government and military bases and over 200 healthcare facilities in the US.
Gary was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Glenayre Technologies, Inc. He was also on the Board of Directors of this company that was publically traded on the NASDAQ stock exchange. They designed and manufactured wireless telecommunication products. Gary held many positions in this company including Chief Technology Officer, Executive Vice President and General Manager. While Gary was with the company, annual sales grew from $ 5 million to over $ 400 million. The company did half their business outside the United States with offices and plants across the Americas, Europe and Asia.
Gary was on the Board of Directors and on the Audit Committee of the New York Stock Exchange Company Allen Telecom. Allen Telecom was a telecommunications manufacturing company with sales of over $ 400 million dollars in 2002. Allen Telecom was sold to Andrew Corporation in the summer of 2003 (resulting in a combined business of over one billion in annual sales).
Gary was a founder and director of WorkWireless, LLC. The company was founded in 1999 and designed and sold software that operated and networked over 3,000 wireless stores across the US. The company was sold to IQmetrix in June of 2008.
Gary is a founder and director of H2 Workforce, LLC which offers hiring solutions based on behavioral assessments, background checks and skill tests. H2 Workforce was launched in July of 2008. The company’s products and services are offered online and through custom portals.
Gary serves on several advisory and not-for-profit boards. Gary studied Electrical Engineering at Simon Fraser University and the University of British Columbia from 1977 to 1983 and is a Professional Engineer. He also received management training at Stanford University. Gary lives with his family in North Carolina.
