 Danny Smith Biographical Information

DANNY SMITH IS A PARTNER AND EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT OF ColorID, LLC, a global supplier of high quality ID systems, products and services. He has developed solid working relationships with campus card offices across North America and Europe. And since its founding in 1999, ColorID has consistently doubled its sales, annually.

Danny is an accomplished speaker, and he regularly shares his expertise through conference lectures and workshops; his audiences including the National Association of Campus Card Users (NACCU) and European Campus Card Users (ECCU). Having visited hundreds of client colleges and universities - where he has been directly involved in ID system installation - he is a veritable information bank of new campus card system technologies, sales, and marketing trends. But Danny brings far more to the table than just industry expertise.

A Columbia, S.C. native, Danny is a U.S. Air Force veteran.  Completing military service that same year, Danny entered the competitive world of insurance sales and marketing, quickly rising from account executive to regional vice president with National Teachers Associates (NTA).

Danny left NTC in 1987 to found Atlantic Coast Capitol (ACC), a subsidiary of Capital American Life Insurance Company (CALI). As president of ACC, Danny opened and directed regional sales offices in Charlotte, Greensboro, Richmond, and Baltimore. He simultaneously served on the advisory board for CALI (then, a publicly traded company on the NYSE). In 1997, Danny sold ACC to Conseco Inc., remaining as consultant until 1999.

Danny's leadership has also been reflected in his community development efforts both at home and abroad. Danny has visited some 20 countries on five continents. During the dark years of Apartheid, he journeyed to South Africa as part of a Christian mission where - with a handful of American missionaries - he helped build a school for the children of the poverty-stricken tribal-homeland of Kangwane.

Back home he has served as Boy Scoutmaster, Sunday School teacher, and founder of the Charlotte Heat Baseball Club, a nationally recognized youth league baseball organization. He subsequently coached a variety of Heat teams, leading them to numerous state, regional, and national championships. He currently serves as president of the organization.
